Dark and wet. Cold as well. Jim and I are in the Toyota waiting for the first cars to join us at the checkpoint. We’re ‘marshalling’ the dry run. We pity the open topped car.

Hilton hotel Newbury.

Here we all are …. Around 15 crews holed up in a meeting room discussing timing, gps tracking and penalties. It’s starting to feel real. Hard to imagine what’s coming up as we’re sitting in Berkshire with a persistent drizzle coming from a leaden sky.

We’re off. Almost.
